What is Third Space Endoscopy:

Third space endoscopy is an advanced, minimally invasive technique where gastroenterologists perform complex procedures inside the wall of the digestive tract. Instead of making external surgical incisions, doctors access the targeted site by tunneling through the submucosal layer (the "third space") between the organ's inner lining and its outer muscle.

How the Technique Works

The Entry: The doctor inserts an endoscope through the mouth or anus into the gastrointestinal (GI) tract.

The Tunneling: A tiny incision is made in the inner mucosal lining, and a specialized tool is used to create a safe tunnel inside the wall of the organ.

The Procedure: Through this tunnel, doctors can cut tight muscles, remove tumors, or excise early-stage cancers.

The Closure: Once the procedure is finished, the entry incision is closed with medical clips.
