Send us a text

Join me on my podcast as I feature Dr. Anita Asgar who was recently named section head of Interventional Cardiology with Northwestern Medicine  at the Bluhm Cardiovascular Institute in Chicago, IL.  She is a structural cardiologist with an interest in valvular heart disease.  She discusses her unique journey growing up in Canada and what inspired her to become a Cardiologist!  She discusses in detail what Aortic Valve disease is and explains the latest in Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) which is a minimally invasive procedure used to replace a narrowed or diseased aortic valve with an artificial valve.

TAVR is an alternative to traditional open-heart surgery for aortic valve replacement, especially for patients who are high-risk for surgery.

For more information on the latest minimally invasive valve procedures that the Bluhm Cardiovascular Institute offers at Northwestern, please refer to their website:    https://www.nm.org/conditions-and-care-areas/cardiovascular-care
